The annual ceremony was held in Redisson Hotel (Tbilisi) on December 29 where Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs of Georgia named winners in 8 nominations.
The ceremony was led by Georgian Public Broadcaster journalist Otari Giorgadze and winners were awarded by Minister Vladimer Vardzelashvili.
Representatives of various sports federations as well as veteran and young athletes were attending the event. Minister has presented 2011 season summery as well.
Nominations and the winners are:
Sportsmen of the year – Mamuka Gorgodze (Rugby)
Team of the year – Georgian National Team (Basketball)
Youth athlete of the year – Vladimer Khinchegashvili (Wrestling)
Parasportsman of the year – Nika Tvauri (Swimming)
The Referee of the year – Edisher Machaidze (Wrestling), Vladimer Nutsubidze (Judo), and Maka Kupatadze (Basketball)
Sports manager of the year – Bacho Khurtsidze (Rugby), Merab Ratishvili (Basketball) and Artem Sanishvili (Archery)
Best representatives of 10 successful Sports – Dimitri Basilaia (Rugby), Christine Esebua (Archery), Genadi Kvikvinia (Arm-wrestling), Davit Marsagishvili (Freestyle wrestling), Gia Machavariani (Weightlifting), Zaza Pachulia (Basketball), Levan Kobiashvili (Football), Revaz Lashkhi (Greco-Roman wrestling), Irakli Tsirekidze (Judo), Avtandil Tsintsadze (SAMBO)
