new Stadium is opened in Kutaisi

The reconstructed Tamaz Kiladze Arena was opened in Kutaisi by President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili and the veteran players of Georgian arch-rivals Dinamo Tbilisi and Torpedo Kutaisi.

"You all remember the poor conditions of this arena. from now on, I wish Kutaisi players to play not only for the right to participate in the highest division, but to win it too" - Said Saakashvili.

Torpedo 2008 - the Kutaisi team have won the right to take part in next championship of Georgia. They were awarded by Georgian Football federation president Zviad Sichinava and Georgian Professional Football League president George Pirtskhalava with a first league cup and medals.

After the official part, veteran players played exciting match which were won by Dinamo players 4:2. The Georgian National team coach, Temuri Ketsbaia scored two goals for Dinamo.

Seven minutes before the end time, Torpedo 2008 took the place of veteran players but Dinamo was able to hold the score until the end.

The multibrand company Wissol will sponsor Torpedo 2008 from next year. "I wish this is the last defeat of Kutaisi team today. Our company is always next to Georgian sport and I promise we will make everything for success of football in Kutaisi" - Said Soso Pkhakadze - one of the owners of Wissol.

The players of the both teams were delighted to play in front of full crowed stadium, which is rarity in the Georgian championship.

The Head of the Department of Sport and Youth Affairs of Georgia Davit Namgalauri said that it is a good coincidence that Torpedo has won the right to play in highest division this year. "I believe that under the new sponsors and owners, Kutaisi team will be successful and competivitive and football will return in Kutaisi" - Said Namgalauri.

Murtaz Khurtsilava - the legendary Georgian player and ex-captain of USSR Football Team wished Kutaisians that every game they play, would gather the same interest as today game.
