27th October, Tbilisi (MSY) --- Large scale social project, the second half Marathon "TbilisiMarathon" 2014 took place on the last Saturday of October at the Tbilisi Sea territory. The event was organized by the "HeidelbergCement Caucasus" under the patronage of the Tbilisi City Hall, Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs of Georgia and the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Georgia.
Around 2000 marathoners took part in TbilisiMarathon. First place holder among men was Anatoli Olenikov and among women - Marielle Carmagnolle.
Tbilisi Marathon 2014 aimed to promote healthy lifestyle while making contribution to charity as well. Each marathoner's participation fee 10 Gel was donated to "Iavnana Foundation" and all those who were willing to participate in the event should register on a special website - www.tbilisimarathon.ge.
The event welcomed both amateur and professional runners, employees of sponsoring companies and different organizations, as well as students, foreign guests, people with disabilities and journalists. The results were counted according to international standards by German company Mika Timing "Official Timekeeping and Data Processing". Specially for the event, Mika Timing representatives arrived in Georgia. This system is already tested in Frankfurt, Hamburg, Berlin and Stuttgart marathons.
Mr. Levan Kipiani, Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs of Georgia, Mr. Davit Narmania, Mayor of Tbilisi and Mr. Ortwin Hennig, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Federal Republic of Germany in Georgia also participated in the marathon and wished success to other marathoners.
The first "TbilisiMarathon" started in October 2012 and is converted now into an annual international event.
